Pedi Cough is a combination of herbs acting on the respiratory tract and rectifying the abnormalities of the digestive system, since impairment of the digestive system is considered to be responsible for various types of cough.
Several herbs like Zingiber officinale (Nagara), Piper longum (Pippali), Curcuma longa (Haridra) and Piper nigrum (Marich) tackle the root cause of cough by correcting the impairment of digestive system and hence controlling the vitiation of the doshas (the biological types of the body). Curcuma longa, in addition protects the respiratory system against environmental allergens. Piper nigrum also exerts strengthening effect on the respiratory system.
Glycyrrhiza glabra (Yashtimadhu), Terminalia belerica (Bibhitaki), Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi), Adhatoda vasica (Vasa), and Pippali longum (Pippali), reduce the aggravated Kapha dosha, (the main culprit of the cough disorders) and exert mucolytic and expectorant effect. Moreover Glycyrrhiza glabra relieves pharyngeal irritation also and Ocimum sanctum and Adhatoda vasica exert anti-viral and bronchodilator activities respectively.
Ammonium chloride (Navsar) is alterative and expectorant in nature. It has a marked stimulating action on the mucous membranes, increasing their secretion also on the absorbent system and on gland structures.
Thus Pedi Cough is effective in the irritating cough due to any variety of factors.
Age: Intended for ages 2-12 yrs old.
