How It Works
Vitaball is formulated using a patented two-phase production process that incorporates water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins into a candy-coated chewing gum (U.S. Patent # 5,569,477). The technology ensures effective release and complete dissolution of the vitamins from the gum after five to ten minutes of chewing delivered in a great tasting gum.
Vitaball consists of a gum center that contains mostly water-soluble vitamins surrounded by a candy-coat shell containing mostly fat-soluble vitamins. The vitamins in the gum center are equally dispersed throughout the gum base. As saliva is produced in the mouth while chewing the gum, the chemical bond between the gum and the vitamins in both the gum center and candy coat shell begin to break down enabling the release of the vitamins.
Bioavailability of the vitamins is related to their absorption through the mucus membranes in the mouth directly into the bloodstream, as well as in the small intestines when saliva is swallowed during chewing

In the event more than one vitamin gumball is consumed, the question of potential toxicity may logically be raised. Vitaball contains both water soluble and fat soluble vitamins. Water soluble vitamins (vitamin C, and the B-vitamins, including thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, B-6, folic acid, B-12, biotin, and pantothenic acid) present no real issues of toxicity. Water-soluble vitamins are not stored in the body in any significant quantity or for any length of time. The body regulates its use of these vitamins and excretes any unneeded amounts though urination and perspiration.

What if vitaball is swallowed while chewing?
If a Vitaball gumball is accidentally swallowed during chewing, the body should digest it without a problem. Please keep in mind however that if the gumball is swallowed before 5-10 minutes of chewing, all of the vitamins may not be effectively released during the digestive process.
